Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home has been part of the Jacksonville community since January 1953. Mercy D. Cantley originally founded & operated the establishment with her husband until her passing. After Mercy's passing, her daughter Mary Freeman ran the business for many years.
In 1990, the establishment was sold to Ronnie & Vivian McGowan. After the purchase, the McGowans renamed the funeral home, Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home. As the owner and funeral director in charge Ronnie worked hard to restore its high standards of service.
Today, Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home continues to be a family owned and operated business where everyone works together as a team to serve families in East, Texas and surrounding areas. We take pride in our personal touch, ensuring that every family is served with dignity, honor, respect, professionalism but most of all, the genuine care and attention they need during difficult times.
