Specialist Elmer Otto Holiday
Born: January 1, 1952, in Houston, Texas
Parents: John Andrew Holliday & Henrietta Flewellen.
Specialist Elmer Otto Holiday, Sr. attended Phyllis Wheatley High School in the 1970s, where he earned his high school diploma. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Army.
After completing his military service, Specialist Elmer O. Holiday pursued a career with Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked diligently.
In the early 2000s, he relocated to Jacksonville, Texas, where he continued to build a life centered around his deep love for family, adventure, and the outdoors.
Specialist Holiday was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Holiday, as well as his daughter, Zlau’ka D. Holiday, grandchild, Keith Micah Holiday, siblings Debera Holiday Thomas, Vada Washington, Angela McGowan, and Annie Lois Felder twin to Lewis Holiday(brother)
He is survived by his children, Sha’Cri (formerly known as Dunney) Holiday, Michael Holiday and Christina Holiday and Synteria LeeChong (bonus daughter).
Elmer’s legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life and demonstrated that LOVE in his own way!
He was a man of many passions, “Uncle Doc” enjoyed hunting, fishing, skinning, collecting guns, riding horses, and motorcycles. Above all, he found his greatest purpose in loving and protecting his family, especially his children!
His strength, love of his way, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him- knew him. He was a cool, loving, and scary guy “All” at the same time!
