Rev. Larry Cornell Bennett, 73 was born on October 15th, 1950 to Mildred Hudson in Alto, TX. Rev. Bennett transitioned from this walk of life on August 31, 2024.
He accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Linwood Baptist Church in Alto, TX. He was a graduate of Troup High School, class of 1969. After high school, he attended Tyler Junior College.
Larry became an ordained minister in 2014 and led as pastor of New Generation Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Bethlehem Baptist Church, until his departure with Christ. He was a wonderful father and a devoted husband and was loved by all who he encountered. He leaves a great legacy, guided by his strong faith and commitment to the church and his family. He worked at and retired from American Plant Food and also worked at Steeles Feed Store, in Troup, TX.
Larry was well known in not only the Troup community but many surrounding towns and cities, where he frequently attended various churches. His singing would bring a room to their feet and his prayers would bring tears of joy to their eyes.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Brown and stepfather Joe Brown; Stepmother Johnnie Brown; Brothers Joe Brown Jr, Edward Brown, Marvin Burleson and sister Frankie Hogan.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His beloved wife of 17 years, Glenda Bennett; four children: Darius and wife Jessica Bennett of Joint Base MDL in New Jersey, Tacola and husband Gerry Austin Jr of Bullard, Tx, Devron Weatherall of Troup, TX and Conchetta

Otis Brown and wife Lucille of Houston, TX, Darius Brown and wife Tahnya of Latham, NY, Stepbrother Garry Thompson of Jacksonville, TX, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, The Steele Family and many others who loved him dearly.
